Now, these business analysts can make anywhere between $80,000 up to $105,000 a year.
They are the ones that gather a lot of our requirements. They are the ones that are actually talking to the business side. So the transferable skills that you have that you can pivot into this job today will require:
- Communication
- Documentation
- Process improvement
- Organization
- Presenting
The people that are currently in these type of roles, office admins who are already like gathering information, customer service leads.
If you are basically in any of these roles, you can pivot into this role, and it would only take you three to six months to actually become a business analyst from where you are today.
Now, do you need to be certified? No, you do not have to be certified to be a business analyst. All you need to do is to hone in on those skills, those transferable skills that you have, and that’s going to already get you a foot in the door.
Cybersecurity Analyst
A cybersecurity analyst does not require you to have to code. No, what they do is they monitor threats, analyze incidents, enforce security protocols, and so these people can make anywhere between $80,000 up to $115,000. Now, I know that there’s more, but this is just to get you, this is kind of like an entry-level position. So anywhere between $80,000 to $115,000 as a cybersecurity analyst that does not require you to have to code.
The transferable skills that you can have that you can basically look at that could basically pivot into this career would be:
Bank Tellers or Financial Service Representative
If you’re currently like an IT support help desk, this will be a great role for you to pivot into as well, Law enforcement, Security guards.
Even healthcare workers because you guys follow very strict HIPAA rules, or HIPAA laws. So you guys know what it’s like to follow strict protocols.
Now, do you need to be certified? It’s not required. It’s not mandatory that you’re certified. It’s going to be kind of, it’s going to be a little hard for you to get your foot in the door without some sort of certification, but don’t fret.
You can go and get like the Google cybersecurity certificate, and that will be enough to get your foot in the door. Based on where you currently are right now, you can pivot into this career anywhere between six to nine months.
QA Testers
This next position is the one that pretty much is very much overlooked, which is going to be your QA testers. This is your quality assurance testers. These people are so important because they’re the ones that actually do test our product. They test our software. They test our reports. They test our packages. They do a lot of things. And so this is a position that is not completely like oversaturated. So, but it is a tech position. People in this position can make anywhere between $60,000 to $80,000 a year.
Some of the skills that would actually help you pivot from where you are today:
- If you are a critical thinker
- You pay attention to detail
- You follow instructions
- You love documenting issues
And maybe even if you’re very patient, this would be a very good position for you.
The people that are currently in this role, if you are currently a warehouse associate, because you check quality, you scan errors, a nurse or medical assistant, even a call center representative.
Especially call center people, especially customer service people who are trying to get the heck out of customer service. You ain’t even got to talk to nobody. They don’t even talk a lot. The only thing they do is sit around and test what it is that we do.
You can get paid $80,000 a year just to test it. It does not require you to have experience. Do you need to actually have a certification? Absolutely not. You do not. All you have to do is hone in on your skills. And you can actually pivot into this career from where you already are as soon as two months.
This is actually going to be like your scrum master or your agile project manager. Now with this one, they’re the ones that’s going to pretty much be the people who are, who handle a lot of our standup meetings that we have every single day. They’re the ones that handles our timelines for our projects. So for this position for like entry level, getting your foot in the door, you can make anywhere between $80,000 to $110,000.
These people, these scrum masters and agile project managers make a lot of money. You have the opportunity to make up to $150,000, $180,000. These people make a lot of money.
So the type of skills, transferable skills. If you currently have, if you’re good at communication, you’re good at leadership, you don’t mind taking charge. Whenever there’s a major project going on, you’re the one that’s in charge telling people what to do, how to organize things. You don’t mind facilitating meetings.
Now the kind of people who are currently in the, who want to pivot to this type of position, a team lead or a shift supervisor or something like that, administrative assistant, customer service managers, because you’re already facilitating meetings, conducting schedules, and even teachers because you’re really good at like lesson plans and things like that.
They say, well, no, you don’t have to be certified. It’s going to be almost impossible for you to get a job if you are not certified. You would definitely need to be certified, but this does not take long at all. You can literally pivot into this career from where you currently are, as long as you’re certified within a month.
UX or UI Designer
So these are my people who are like graphic designers, who’s like artistic, who loves to like put together things like that. So if you, they’re the ones that pretty much like create our apps.
They’re the ones that create the websites and things like that. So when you go to company websites, the UX or the UI people are the ones who design the website.
These people can make anywhere between $80,000 to $115,000 a year. And it does not require for you to have a computer science degree or even experience. As long as you have artistic skills, you are good.
This right here can be literally self-taught or you can go to a bootcamp. This is something that is every, just about every single company does need.
Now, do you need to be certified? No. What they prefer, but what you will need is a portfolio. They will prefer to see the work that you’ve currently done over you being certified. So basically the portfolio will trump the certification.
Now the people that are currently in this position are the people who are like really empathetic because the reason is that people’s pain, you know what they want, you know what they want to see, and you’re there to actually tailor to what they want. You’re a problem solver. You’re very creative. You’re very artistic. And even if you’re not artistic, again, this could be completely self-taught. You can go and teach yourself on how to do this.
So the people that can pivot into these positions would be like customer service representative. If you’re a graphic designer, marketing, retail worker, store associate, and even a business analyst.
So if you’re a business analyst, you can definitely pivot. This will be an upgrade for you because you guys are really good at mapping processes, gathering requirements already. If you’re in any of those roles, you can actually pivot into this position as little as four to six months.
